About Us

We're always busy

Mission Statement

"We aim to provide caring and supportive childcare in a warm, friendly and stimulating environment. We do our best to ensure high quality care that is accessible to all.”

Background

Shepperton Pre-School was set up as a charity in 1967. Over the years it has grown and developed into a modern, vibrant and successful pre-school where the needs of each individual child are the paramount concern.

The Children

We admit children from around 2 years 6 months (depending on where their birthday falls within the academic year) until they leave for school, on a sessional or full daycare basis.

We welcome all children to the pre-school and will endeavour to support each child to reach their potential.

Session Times

We are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9.00 – 12.00, and 12.00-2.30pm for 3 terms per school year. Full day sessions are also available, with children bringing a packed lunch.

We also offer a Friday morning for the children who will be starting school the following September.

Parents

We work closely with parents to enhance our knowledge of each child. We endeavour to keep you informed of your child's progress through our home/school notebook system and through regular contact with you at the pre-school and via email.

Parents are welcome to volunteer or observe at any time. We are always happy to accept help!

The Community

How's that for size?
We use local business for supplies and services whenever possible, and we make provision for the wide range of needs within our local community.

We host our own annual winter fair and enjoy visits from local police officers, fire-fighters and others in the community who provide us with interesting insights into their work or lifestyles.

The Curriculum

Since September 2008 Shepperton Pre-school has been following the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Our 'Adventure Area'

We provide a balance of adult and children initiated activities and encourage the children to develop and extend their ideas using the environment and the wide range of resources on offer.

We allow the children the freedom to choose whether to play inside or out, all year round.

Records of Achievement

Each child has their own ‘portfolio’ consisting of photographs and samples of work reflecting their learning journey through pre-school. This will be given to your child on leaving pre-school.

We also maintain Early Years Foundation Stage records that will be given to you to pass on to your child’s school at the end of his/her time with us.

Both these records will be shared with you at parent meetings.

Policies

We have a number of pre-school policies to set standards for the care, practice and procedures within the setting. These are reviewed annually to ensure that they are enabling the pre-school to provide a high quality service. A copy of the policies is available in the foyer for parents to read.

Special needs

We have experience with children with a variety of different needs. We welcome other professionals into the setting and will work closely with them and with you to ensure your child's individual needs are met.

The pre-school’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Bev Terry.
